Biomechanics and Gait Analysis are the study of the way the body functions, the movement that is created and its effect on the lower limbs. Pain in the feet, ankles, knees, hips and back can all be caused by a discrepancy in the bodies movement. Assessments consist of several investigations to assess and evaluate each and every patient.
Here at Foot Works, we specialise in the prescription of orthotics for a range of lower limb foot and ankle conditions. Orthotic prescription depends on some factors that we will discuss with you. Sometimes a simple insole will suffice. However, we will often advise a custom device that is bespoke and made specifically for your foot, made from a cast. We like to use a combination of exercises and orthotic therapy to ensure the best outcome.
At Foot Works, we use a state of the art orthotics lab to make our custom orthotics. They adhere to the very highest ethical and clinical standards when designing and making each set of orthotics. Each pair of devices is unique to the patient, and each pair is made by hand ensuring that they fit you perfectly. A fully custom orthotic should have a lifespan of up to 15-20 years.
